Who does what in insurance?
Knowing the roles can make the application and policy conversation easier to follow.
Who actually writes your policy?
“Policy writer” can mean different things in conversation. Most often, people mean the insurance company, or carrier, that issues the policy and takes on the covered risk.
Why does that matter?
The carrier reviews an application through underwriting, decides whether it can offer coverage, and sets the terms and price. If a covered claim occurs, the carrier handles it under the policy terms.
My role as an independent representative is to help you understand and compare available options. The carrier makes the final decision on eligibility, pricing, and coverage. Always read the actual policy for its limits and exclusions.
Bring your questions.
Which company would issue the policy? Who should I contact about an application, billing, or a claim? Where can I read the exclusions and renewal terms? We can walk through those questions together.
